Zadar Airport Announces Expansion for Long Haul Flights

Zadar airport will extend the runway by 700 meters, and expand the terminal building and apron so they could handle long haul flights, reports AvioRadar and Ex Yu Aviation.

“This is a strategic project worth more than 500 million kuna (70 million euro). When the project documentation is complete, the project will also be submitted for EU funds,” said the Minister of the Sea, Transport, and Infrastructure, Oleg Butković. The Croatian government will also assist in financing the project.

The Croatian Minister for Tourism, Gari Cappelli, has said the country is looking to secure flights from four far away markets in the coming period and is in talks with a number of carriers. These include Japan, China, South Korea and the United States.

Zadar Airport, located in Zemunik Donji, 8 km (5 mi) from the centre of Zadar, is international airport serving Zadar. Zadar Airport is connected with the rest of the Europe with low-cost flights from April til November.

Ryanair, Eurowings, EasyJet, Laudamotion and Vueling are among  budget airlines that offer flights to Zadar from Sweden, Germany, France, UK, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy and France.
